Grow Your Blog

Thank you Vicki for organizing today's event, opening wide the gates of cyber-space and encouraging global friendships!
What better way to blanket the world with LOVE than to sit and visit with friends!
Who would like to join me for tea, coffee or cocoa?

You can call me Beulah, the nickname my husband gave me...he got the name from books we used to read our children when they were small. (His nickname is Hank, from the same book series...."Hank the Cowdog" written by John R. Erickson.)

Beulah & Hank spring 2011

I am: an Artist, Designer, Photographer, Writer, Quilter, Seamstress, Wife, Mom, Sister, Aunt, Friend, Radical Worshiper & Prayer Warrior.
I LOVE: patterns, color, tea, lemon & lime, cookies, seafood, salads, spinach, chocolate, birds, cats, horses, the night skies, nature, warm sunny days, cold snowy days, quilts, rain & rainbows, gardening...just please no snakes or pickled beets!

The Lord has blessed me with what some would call an over-active imagination....it is constantly in over-drive, there is never a dull or boring moment.
I do not remember a time in my life when I wasn't creating something and I can  get quite grouchy on the days when life's events keep me from creating. (Thankfully that isn't too often!)
Many of my ideas come at the oddest times, triggered by random events or dreams, which are often scribbled down a tiny scraps of paper tucked away as I plot and plan...many nights I suddenly awake from sound sleep and head to the studio to tackle the next creative adventure.

In 2010 I had a choice to continue teaching art in the schools or to go to Brazil as part of a missions team, I chose Brazil.
LOVE  has no language barrier, I couldn't speak or understand a word of the native languages, yet, communicated easily with everyone.
The Lord's hand was certainly on the trip and He sent His angels ahead each step of our journey.

It was foggy & raining on the trip up to the statue, as soon as we turned to face the statue, the rain stopped the clouds lifted!

Vicki has asked us to share, why do we blog and what do we blog about.
I am still learning 'how to blog' I started blogging in December of 2012.
Simply, I blog to release ideas, to share words of encouragement, to connect with others globally...there are so many wonderfully creative people from whom I have so much to learn!
Thankfully as Vicki so beautifully stated,
"Blogging has NO Boundaries", I think that is my favorite quote of the week!

The name of my blog Sowing Stitches is a description basically of what I do.... I sow what I sew....
In other words, most of what I sew I give away to missions globally.
I wish that I had kept better records all these years...I create, blankets, quilts, sleeping bags, pillow cases, prayer blankets & shawls, worship banners & flags, clothes and then give them as the Lord guides.

Thanks for stopping by Sowing Stitches today, may Your blog Bloom and Grow as together we encourage each other through our friendships!
May the rest of your day be overflowing with hugs, love and joy!

             Beulah

  9. Hello Beulah! it's wonderful to meet you! Thank you for stopping by my blog. Yes, I adore E. Gaskells books and the BBC renditions of them. They are some of my all time favorites! I haven't seen Lark Rise to Candleford, though I have heard of it and it has neen recommended to me. I can't get it thru our library so I'm hoping to purchase the first season. Do you like it? I've heard it's excellent.
    Blessings,
    Holly

  10. Holly, Lark Rise is great! Check Amazon or Barnes and Noble sometimes they run specials on the entire series...we got the bundle of all seasons on sale...but I forget which place had the best price. A very enjoyable series, beautifully filmed.

  11. Hi Beulah,
So glad to meet you! Love your blog name, your mission of sewing for those in need, and your obvious heart of compassion! I look forward to following you. Also, your husband's nickname is precious. I treasured reading Hank the Cowdog with my family as a child and have started introducing it now to my children.

  24. Hi!

Thank you for visiting my blog!

I too give away what I make, and I too wait and listen for God's guidance where to give it. I knitted a blanket that God keeps whispering to me to send to my cousin. I keep saying to God, "Really?" God keeps saying back, "Really." Your blog post just motivated me to get my act together and send that blanket to my cousin. Thank you!
